Carmel High School
In addition to being the Architect of Record for this award-winning design, Cripe responded to a series of challenges. To meet the challenge of linking Carmel High School physically and emotionally with the community and combining five buildings into one, Cripe helped create the “Committee of 100”. This group of local political, business, civic and educational leaders helped plan the best possible solutions to the school’s facility challenges.
The Committee encouraged community participation through charitable contributions, in addition to the investment of tax dollars. Because of this community collaboration, Carmel High School is now a technologically superior facility. It is connected physically to the community’s heritage with a circa 1900 classroom and connected to the future through a media center that serves as the epicenter of the school.
