Indiana State Office Building Commission
The State of Indiana Department of Corrections needed a new facility in New Castle, Indiana.
Cripe Architects + Engineers was the Architect of Record for this project. As part of the “New Castle Design Team,” Cripe provided Project Management, Programming, Architectural Design, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Design, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Design and Surveying services for this 1,800-bed correctional facility. Cripe also provided the State of Indiana with a full-time staff to expedite and assist in the construction process.
Cripe’s staff facilitated response to contractor’s requests for information, change requests and scheduling coordination.
The phased design and construction approach of this project, as well as the involvement of several design and construction team members, required a collaborative design and product delivery process. Cripe Architects + Engineers led the design process by utilizing a schedule-driven, interactive approach, that clearly established responsibilities and expectations.
This facility, complete with a hospital component, provides intensive treatment for all categories of the special offender population.
