Recently the team at Cripe Architects + Engineers hosted the eighth grade class from St. Richards Episcopal School in Indianapolis.
We invited the students to come share an afternoon with us to learn what architects, interior designers, civil engineers and land surveyors do each and every day. The students worked collaboratively to design a ‘classroom of the future’; they also ran distance calculations from an engineering perspective and then field verified those same calculations with survey equipment.

It was a real pleasure having tomorrow’s leaders spend some time with us!

Mr. Henry Buffalo, Jr., Esq, an attorney specializing in Federal Indian law from Jacobson Buffalo Magnuson Anderson & Hogen, PC in St. Paul, Minnesota recently came to visit the team at Cripe Architects + Engineers. His law firm has a national practice representing Indian tribes, individual tribe members and those who do business with Indian tribes. On the first day that Mr. Buffalo was in Indianapolis, he spoke to the professionals at Cripe Architects + Engineers about tribal law. On the following day, he returned to the Cripe office to speak to the members of the Indiana Native American Business Association. His energy in both presentations was contagious; particularly in the Indiana Native American Business Association meeting, there was a call to action for the American Indian population here in Indiana to create a greater awareness of our members and our businesses in order to better take advantage of opportunities that exist.

We at Cripe are excited about the future and are appreciative of Mr. Buffalo’s guidance and leadership as we turn the page to that next chapter in our business growth.

Recently, the team at Cripe Architects + Engineers came together for an all-staff luncheon in which we celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the Paul I. Cripe Charitable Foundation. Throughout these past 25 years, this Foundation has given $750,000 to educational and community organizations throughout central Indiana and the Midwest. The Paul I. Cripe Charitable Foundation board members of Fred Green, Al Oak, Dennis Southerland, Dave Ditzler, Steve Hardin and Jim Dankert were in attendance for this luncheon and, in their earlier board meeting, unanimously voted to challenge the Cripe staff to live the values of the organization and its Foundation in making a difference in the lives of those in need.

For those Cripe professionals who are interested, the Foundation will be giving them $75 in cash with the requirements that they ‘pay it forward’ and then write about how they used this money to improve the lives of those around them.

How will the Cripe team make the world a better place? For that answer, please stay tuned. . .

Cripe Architects + Engineers has decades of experience in the health care market, having worked on hospitals, medical office buildings, ambulatory surgery centers, neighborhood clinics, primary care facilities, special care units, long-term care/assisted living facilities, radiology suites, urgent and emergent care, surgical suites, medical and surgical inpatient units, outpatient centers and clinics, emergency rooms (level one trauma), intensive care units, laboratories, pharmacies, mental health facilities, physical, occupational and recreational therapy units, family beginnings units, anesthesiology office suites, staff training and simulation education facilities, day care centers, dietetics and infection control projects. We work both on new designs, as well as on renovations, and we understand the complexities and the details that go into each of these different project types.

Here at Cripe, we follow an “evidence based design” (EBD) process to help our health care clients create a healing environment. Research has shown that using these EBD factors during the design process and by incorporating environments built from these factors improves patient safety, increases care delivery effectiveness, reduces stress and provides for positive patient outcomes. When these objectives have been met, we know the completed project will be successful. The goals of improved patient outcomes, shorter lengths of stay, increased staff efficiency and effectiveness and the reduction of family stressors are integral elements of our design criteria and, ultimately, in our clients’ measurement of success.
