The centerpiece was part of the master plan to achieve a formal garden setting and create a regional destination spot. The centerpiece allows for community events, concerts, weddings, and other events. It also helps define the park as a “passive park” and create a sense of tranquility. The centerpiece featured a life-size bronze statue of the donors of the park, central fountain and flume, and Indiana limestone. The site served as the location for the opening and closing ceremonies for the Solheim Cup, the LPGA event that occurs on U.S. soil once every eight years.
