A few weeks ago, May 23, 2014, Lawrence Township Trustee, Russell Brown, brought about 50 people together for what was scheduled to be a hard hat groundbreaking for the new Cupboard of Lawrence Township Food Pantry, built and owned by the Lawrence Township Trustee. However, because of the rain, the groundbreaking was moved inside.
Trustee Brown, in remarks prepared for the event, talked with great passion that citizens in our community are going hungry and that this is a tragedy that cannot be overlooked. Thus, the Lawrence Township Trustee, in association with Gleaners Food Bank, created this satellite to more readily meet the needs of residents in Lawrence Township. This is the first time in Gleaners history that they have partnered with a public entity to help address the needs of our brothers and sisters.
Many community leaders attended the groundbreaking including Indiana State Senator, Jim Merritt, Mayor Dean Jessup’s Chief of Staff, Tim Joyce and Lawrence Township Constable, Terry Burns.
Cripe, along with Stenz Construction was cited by Trustee Russell Brown as doing outstanding work on the new building, which is located at 7101 Pendleton Pike in Indianapolis.
