Alex D. Oak, PE | Chairman & Chief Executive, Partner
Al Oak joined the firm as a land surveyor. Since then, he has served in just about every area of the firm. In 1992 he became Chief Executive Officer and, with that appointment, made some key strategic changes in the firm’s business and cultural model. The changes included a diversification of markets to include public, quasi-public and private, the institution of a strategic planning process, the introduction of continuing education activities at the workplace, the formation of an external Board of Directors and the development of a world-class executive team that is focused on client and employee satisfaction.

Mr. Oak is a proud member of the Native American community and is a descendent of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe in Michigan. He is an avid student of Native American art and literature and is a member of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society

He holds board seats on several for-profit organizations including ECO Oxygen Technologies, LLC, Old National Bank and Artistic Media Partners.

Al’s extensive community involvement has included serving as Chairman of the Board of a number of key organizations such as the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, Indianapolis Housing Partnership, Purdue University School of Civil Engineering Advisor, Council and the Indiana University Center for Real Estate Studies.

Al has been recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of the School of Civil Engineers at Purdue University and as a Distinguished Hoosier by the Governor of the State of Indiana and has received the Legacy Award from the Indiana University Center for Real Estate Studies.

Al received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and a Masters of Business Administration from Indiana University.

Fredrick J. Green, AIA, NCARB | President and COO, Partner
Before assuming the roles of President and Chief Operating Officer at Cripe in January of 2005, Fred Green has served as a Client Services Director (CSD) and as the Head of Architecture. It was his commitment to delivering custom, creative solutions which met clients’ needs and his team-oriented leadership style that made Fred the obvious choice for leading the company. Fred is also the first president at Cripe to have an architectural background.

Fred is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and serves on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Architectural Foundation and on the Board of Advisors for the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kansas where he graduated with highest honors.

Fred has developed a great interest in community related projects that tend to bring diverse organizations and people together in order to leverage human capital, skills and passion for leading a community.

Dennis L. Southerland | Senior Vice President, Partner
Since joining Cripe in 1986, Dennis has led the company’s sales efforts and is one of the firm’s liaisons to clients, both existing and new, and to the community as a whole. His commitment to central Indiana can be seen in his extensive involvement in such organizations as the Indiana Alliance of Business Leaders and Educators Board of Directors, the State of Indiana Commission for Proprietary Education, MSD of Lawrence Township Foundation Board of Directors and the Board of Directors of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Indiana.

Dennis’ real passion is the well-being of children and, because of this focus, he serves as the Administrator of the Paul I. Cripe Charitable Foundation, which has given over $700,000 to both educational and children’s organizations since its creation in 1987.

David serves as the Vice President, Site Services where he oversees the Civil Engineering department.  He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. As a registered professional engineer in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and Kentucky, he maintains a tradition of engineering excellence while growing our service offering.

Dennis is an Indiana Licensed Real Estate Broker and a member of the Indiana Realtors Association.  He currently serves on the Bloomington Economic Development Corporation board, is a member of the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors, and is involved with many organizations including: Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI), Indiana Construction Association, Economic Development Coalition Southwest Indiana and the Evansville Chamber of Commerce.  McGuire has also been involved with multiple Johnson County Youth Associations.

Mike serves as the Vice President, Architecture  where he oversees the  department and projects.  In addition to these responsibilities he is also involved in the Senior Leadership team where he heads up day to day operations.

A registered architect in Wisconsin and Missouri, Mike graduated from ITT Technical Institute with an Associates degree in Architectural Engineering Technology and is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional.  Mike completed the Kelley School of Business Executive Leadership Program through Indiana University.  He serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville and is past President for Chamber Action with the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce.

Kara E. Hensley, SPHR | Vice President | Talent + Brand

Kara E. Hensley, SPHR is Vice President, Talent + Brand of Cripe. She joined the Cripe Administrative staff in November of 2007. Kara is a member of the Senior Leadership team and in 2013 assumed additional leadership responsibility for Marketing department. Prior to Cripe, Kara worked in various human resource and marketing leadership roles with Allison Transmission/General Motors, Thomson Consumer Electronics and Keramida Environmental. Throughout her over 20 year career, spanning the gamut from labor relations and negotiations to organizational development and coaching, Kara has provided strategic leadership and outcomes to the organizations she serves.

Cathy Erwin | Vice President |  Finance

With over 30 years in the field of accounting and finance Cathy Erwin leads the finance operations at Cripe. Cathy’s responsibilities as a member of the Senior Leadership Team include the oversight of all company accounting practices and the accounting department, the preparation of budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions, the direction of financial strategy, planning and forecasts, and the study, analysis and reporting of trends, opportunities for expansion and the projection of future company growth.
