The second phase of a 40-acre development for the City of Carmel included this 14-acre water operations facility. The new 40,000-square foot facility houses all the Water Department operations including the administration, maintenance and storage of equipment. The administration facility was designed to accommodate the
day-to-day operational activities as well as the local public and contractors who frequent the facility. The maintenance facility was provided with the most up-to-date equipment required to expedite current operations. This included separate work areas for welding, electrical work, testing and a building area for all of the pump equipment, and hydrants and meters they maintain. A separate mechanic’s bay complete with lift, fluid distribution and air compressor systems for maintenance of all equipment, as well as separate areas for shipping, receiving, a wash bay, meter shop and equipment and supply storage were included in the design.
