This beloved community landmark was vacant and scheduled for imminent demolition. Recognizing the latent potential of this amazing facility, the inherent affection of the community, and the compatibility with their redevelopment mission, BWI approached community leaders with an offer. BWI agreed to assume stewardship of the facility while applying their significant experience in complicated community redevelopment. The plan would involve an assemblage of community interests and commercial opportunities, resulting in a community health and learning magnet combining clinical access, adult education, performing arts enrichment, commercial/industrial incubation, and athletic recreation. The Anderson, IN community will once again turn to their iconic public building for renewal, growth, nurturing, and community fellowship. This public-private partnership is a remarkable example of how common interests can be leveraged to the significant betterment of our communities in need.
