Infosys Innovation and Technology Hub
Civil Engineering
Cripe was the lead civil engineer for the design and development of the 43-acre, 10 building Infosys campus on the westside of Indianapolis at the site of the former Indianapolis International Airport Terminal and long-term parking lot to create a green, corporate campus. Cripe worked with the architect and campus master planner to develop grading concepts for building placement and roadway layout, storm water management and treatment solutions, storm sewer routes and master infrastructure plans for sanitary sewers, potable water systems, private fire water systems, chilled water supply and return lines for cooling systems, gas distribution systems, campus electric systems and telecommunications infrastructure. The campus is located on property formerly owned by the Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA). The IAA retained easements and ownership of two large diameter storm sewer systems that convey storm water from the airfield to two separate creeks or drainage outlets that traverse the site.
Based on the investment being made by Infosys and the City of Indianapolis, Cripe recommended an evaluation of the storm sewers be conducted to determine their condition and viability based on the age of the infrastructure. The outcome of the study was a re-route and reconstruction of the storm sewer systems which provided two benefits: new and structurally sound pipes and the modification of the master plan to allow better utilization of the site with improved building locations and on-site infrastructure layout. Cripe also worked with the City of Indianapolis’s design team for the coordination and design of public infrastructure elements for public bid construction projects to support and facilitate the on-site development. The first building, a 160,000-sf office building and training center, the Physical Plant (Utility Building) and the Arrivals/Landing Building are currently under construction.
