Central Indiana Orthopedics
Architecture
Central Indiana Orthopedics has a growing practice in orthopedic specialty. Their successful practice in Fishers, Indiana justified expanding their clinical practice while adding a same-day surgery facility. With a focus on total patient care, they wanted the new facility to co-locate a progressive care environment while also hosting rehabilitation services through partner networks. The resulting program Includes an Orthopedic Clinic, Ambulatory Surgical Center, Rehabilitation Clinic, Rehabilitation Gymnasium, and Diagnostic Imaging. Cripe was called on to assemble this program into an environment of care that puts the patient first, and is focused on the many related needs of orthopedic care.
The design solution provides a building with a presence while housing diverse healthcare providers. An iconic entry and atrium space provides identity to the arrival experience while orientating the patient and guests to the services within. The clinic, surgery center, rehabilitation, and imaging services are all easily identified and accessed from the central common space. Each service has an identifiable entry and welcoming atmosphere. Within the orthopedic clinic, twenty patient rooms for appointments and walk-in and four procedure rooms are supported by two conventional radiology rooms. Rehabilitation offers five private exam rooms, a procedure room, and two therapy stations. The Rehabilitation gym offers two private exam rooms, six mobility devices, and various therapies. Imaging offers CT, MRI, and ultrasound modalities in-house. The surgery center offers twelve pre/post stations, two fully functional operating rooms, and a procedure room while accommodating future expansion for two additional operating rooms and supporting spaces.
Cripe’s solution provided diverse, progressive healthcare providers with environments of care suitable for “first class” service of most orthopedic needs. Additionally, Central Indiana Orthopedics developed the Med Tec Park campus location as a co-located facility with a urology practice. Cripe provided overall master plan services for the subdivision of a Med Tec Park tract into three integrated parcels and a common area. The adjacent buildings and integrated infrastructure work closely to form a unified appearance offering benefits to each.
