Architecture, Land Surveying

Johnson Memorial Health and the Johnson County Commissioners retained Cripe to design a new behavioral health building on their campus in Franklin, Indiana. Johnson County has an ongoing mental health crisis, and this facility is sorely needed. The hospital partnered with Johnson County to bring the project to fruition. Important aspects of the work included creating a design that avoided an institutional look and used evidence-based research on the treatment environment to support healing and a sense of safety.

The completed building will provide 29 dedicated beds for in-patient treatment of adults suffering acute mental health issues. The facility also includes administrative support spaces, patient intake, and intensive outpatient therapy space.
